Arne Slot, Andy Robertson and Michael Edwards all attended Diogo Jota‘s memorial outside Anfield on Tuesday to lay tributes to the late Liverpool striker. After Slot and his staff welcomed players back to the AXA Training Centre for the start of pre-season testing, plans were put in place to honour Jota at Anfield.Thousands of tributes have been laid on the grass along 97 Avenue outside the Main Stand in the days since the Portuguese’s passing, and Slot, along with wife Mirjam, was joined by Robertson and Edwards in adding to those.Michael Edwards, Andy Robertson and Arne Slot, alongside his wife, added flowers to the poignant array formed outside a ground that Jota lit up so often with his talents ?? pic.twitter.com/5QPTtvEzyI— Liverpool FC (@LFC) July 8, 2025Slot’s card, accompanying a bouquet of flowers and addressed from his family, read:“Diogo,“We had the same dream and we fulfilled it together.“Andre and yourself will forever be in our hearts.“Arne, Mirjam, Isa and Joep.”Robertson was among Jota’s closest friends in the Liverpool squad and attended the striker’s wedding to childhood sweetheart Rute less than two weeks before his passing. The left-back’s note called back to a lighthearted nickname he gave him:“MacJota,“Our hearts are broken but feeling very grateful for the memories you gave us all!“I will miss you, love you brother.“Robbo.”Edwards was instrumental in bringing Jota to Liverpool in 2020 along with his then assistant sporting director Julian Ward. Now in his position as Fenway Sports Group’s CEO of Football, Edwards clearly retained a strong relationship with the No. 20 and his message reflected that:“With love and remembrance. In honour of Diogo Jota.“Down to earth, determined, a great finisher and above all, loved and respected by all who knew him.“He gave everything to the team, with quiet strength and unwavering humility.“His impact reached far beyond the pitch.“Our thoughts are with his family and everyone who held him dear.“Rest in peace Diogo, from Michael Edwards and family.”The crowds were cleared briefly to allow Slot, Robertson and Edwards to pay their respects, each pausing to ponder the life and passing of their colleague and friend after laying their tributes. It was a lovely gesture which serves to reflect the closeness of not only the Liverpool squad but also those who are employed to work with and above them.Rest in peace, Diogo and Andre
