You're also responsible for much more than an employee would be. I run a cleaning service, and I have to pay for all the expenses - supplies, insurance, etc. I don't get paid sick days or paid vacation, and I have to pay all of my taxes vs. half like an employee. Anything the business needs or I personally need, i have to pay for it. Comparing self-employed wages to employee wages just cannot work.
