(Express Photo by Praveen Khanna)A day after a woman and a six-month-old baby were found dead inside a house in North Delhi’s Civil Lines area, the main accused — the deceased woman’s former partner — was arrested from the Haldwani area of Uttarakhand in the early hours of Wednesday.According to the Delhi Police, the suspect, Nikhil, who recently shifted with the deceased woman, 24, to the Majnu ka Tila locality in the Civil Lines area, committed the murders when the woman was at her friend’s house. He then fled the scene of the crime.A police officer said that after the crime, Nikhil fled to his sister’s house in Haldwani, Uttarakhand, seeking shelter for a few days. She had shifted him to her boyfriend’s house, from where he was arrested on Wednesday morning, he added.The police are now bringing Nikhil to Delhi for further investigation.The woman and the baby were found murdered, with their throats slit, at the infant’s house in Civil Lines Tuesday afternoon. The police said Nikhil committed the murders when the baby’s mother was out with her father to pick up her elder sister, 5, from school. Nikhil had visited their house multiple times, and knew the routine they followed.“The woman, who was from Uttarakhand, used to live in the same area with her partner, who is also from Uttarakhand. She had issues with him, and there were a lot of fights.
