The Sudan Mobility Update provides a summary of the total IDP population in Sudan, including those displaced both before and after the onset of the conflict on 15 April 2023.The number of IDPs decreased by an estimated 13 per cent compared to highest-ever recorded population of IDPs in Sudan, as reported in Sudan Mobility Update (15) in January 2025. The decrease in IDPs is primarily due to increased return movements to Sennar, Aj Jazirah, and Khartoum states. For further information, see Return Monitoring Alert (4).As of 25 June 2025, an estimated total of 10,065,329 IDPs were recorded across 10,521 locations, in 185 localities, across all 18 states in Sudan. Of these, an estimated 7,666,575 individuals were displaced since 15 April 2023.Approximately 4,238,848 individuals crossed borders into neighbouring countries since 15 April 2023.The top states of origin were Khartoum (30%), South Darfur (21%), and North Darfur (20%).The highest proportion of IDPs were hosted in South Darfur (18%), North Darfur (18%), and Central Darfur (10%) states.Over half (53%) of IDPs were reportedly children under the age of 18-years-old.
