One of the few silver linings of the sadistic nightmare of Donald Trump‘s immigration policy is watching his supporters realize, to their horror, they’re now in deep trouble. I’m talking about the “turkeys voting for Thanksgiving” MAGA crowd who either are immigrants or were married to one and are now seeing their loved ones dragged away to a miserable fate. These range from the Danish MAGA dad who happened to fill out a form wrong and remains incarcerated in an ICE hellhole, to the detained Iranian refugee who married a Trump voter and is now missing. The couple were both enthusiastic supporters of Trump’s widespread deportation program, with Francisco saying his wife was a “strong believer” in anti-immigration policies. It’s safe to say her position on Trump may have evolved over the past month. On Jun. 13, she arrived at an immigration interview, apparently expecting to finally receive her green card and become a permanent resident. This was a lie designed to lure her in, and she was promptly arrested, stripped naked, handed an ICE jumpsuit, and imprisoned in a facility in El Paso, Texas. Cynthia was horrified, tearfully pointing out she’d been here since she was a small child: “The USA is my country. That’s where I met my husband. That’s where I went to high school, junior high, elementary. That’s where I had my kids…” It’s safe to say this formerly MAGA couple is having some buyer’s remorse over their vote. Frank says, “I voted for change, but I didn’t vote for THIS change”. Meanwhile, Cynthia, in floods of tears, begs Canada for help, whimpering “I don’t wanna be here…” Oh no, consequences! ICE later confirmed why Cynthia was on their to-grab list. In 1999, she briefly returned to Canada to attend her mother’s funeral. While passing through the Buffalo border crossing, Cynthia told border staff she was pregnant and that she intended to give birth in the US. That quickly led to an expedited removal order for residing in the US illegally, though she re-entered via San Diego months later without notifying border guards, an action that ICE is now citing as a felony. Or, as DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin puts it: “ICE arrested Cynthia Ivanna Olivera, an illegal alien from Canada, who was previously deported and chose to ignore our law.” Knowing you have that in your past and still being a committed MAGA cheerleader whooping and hollering as Trump announces plans to crack down on illegal immigrants?
