Michelle Mifsud has just made Maltese sports history, and she’s done it in seriously badass fashion. On Thursday, 3rd July at 8am, Michelle took on the Bretzel Ultra Triathlon in France, a notorious challenge made up of a mind-blowing 7.6km swim, 360km cycle, and 84.4km run. That’s the equivalent of two Ironman races. Back-to-back. Non-stop.After 28 hours, 36 minutes, and 54 seconds of pushing every physical and mental boundary, she crossed the finish line on Friday afternoon, becoming the first Maltese female athlete to ever attempt and complete a Double Ironman Triathlon. But that’s not all, Michelle didn’t just finish, she placed 2nd among women and 6th overall, showing incredible consistency from the first swim stroke to the final kilometre. Even more impressive? Michelle isn’t just an athlete, she’s also a full-time working mother, balancing a demanding training schedule with her professional career and family life.“This experience pushed every limit I thought I had,” Michelle said after the race. “To know I’m the first Maltese woman to attempt and complete this distance makes all the sacrifice worthwhile. I hope it inspires others to believe that anything is possible.”Held in Bretzel Village, France, the Bretzel Ultra Triathlon is one of the toughest endurance events out there, attracting top international triathletes. With her performance, Michelle’s not just raised the bar, she’s firmly put Malta on the global ultra-triathlon map.Massive well done, Michelle! 🇲🇹🔥•
