The first draft for the National Cycling Strategy was presented by Transport Minister Chris Bonett earlier today during a meeting with a number of NGOs from the sector.The strategy forms part of the initiative “Reshaping our Mobility” which is an important part of the government’s vision to improve transport in the Maltese islands.During the meeting, the strategy’s development process was outlined, along with a discussion on the vision to promote greater bicycle use across the country and position it as a more attractive alternative mode of transport.A thorough professional analysis of the current situation was carried out, leading to the identification of several recommendations and proposals aimed at encouraging more people to choose bicycles for their daily commute. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Lovin Malta (@lovinmalta)Bonett noted that this initiative is one of 45 launched by the Government last March, with implementation now underway. He explained that collectively, these measures are designed to improve the overall efficiency and use of our road infrastructure.Bonett said that this strategy is one of these measures and will be implemented with the help of the ambassador and the committee for sustainable alternative mobility.“This measure aims to foster a culture where the bicycle is used more in our country, in a safe way, as an alternative and sustainable means of transport.
