The police arrested him from his house after launching a suo motu investigation into his social media activities. The Banashankari police initiated the case on June 12 after their social media wing discovered an Instagram account that was filming and posting videos of women without their consent. The incident came to light when a graduate student from a private college spoke out against the alleged harassment on her Instagram account. She alleged that she had been filmed inappropriately on Church Street and that the video was posted online without her consent.“Recently, there was a video of me shot in public on Church Street. It was shot very inappropriately and then posted online without my consent. I tried contacting the person behind the account, and there was no response,” she stated in her video appeal. The police said that Gurudeep’s account had more than 10,000 followers on Instagram and he had uploaded approximately 45 videos to his Instagram account. They also said their analysis showed that the accused deliberately presented these videos in slow motion to maximise viewer engagement and increase the exploitative nature of the content. The police are currently working to obtain a court order to have the Instagram account permanently deleted or deactivated.Stay updated with the latest - Click here to follow us on Instagram© The Indian Express Pvt Ltd
