The Toronto Blue Jays have been one of the major surprises of the 2025 Major League Baseball season. The Blue Jays are atop the AL East and will be buyers ahead of the July 31 trade deadline. Heading into the trade deadline, Toronto’s major needs are pitching, as the Blue Jays could upgrade their rotation and bullpen. But Toronto could look to add another bat to the lineup. MLB insider Jim Bowden of The Athletic links the Blue Jays to trading for Cleveland Guardians star outfielder Steven Kwan.Follow The Sporting News on WhatsApp“The Guardians will listen to inquiries on Steven Kwan, and he fits the Blue Jays’ need for an on-base traffic creator who also would be a Gold Glove defender in left field. I’m just not sure where the fit is from the Guardians’ perspective. They’re looking for middle-of-the-order power, and the Jays just don’t have that in their farm system or on the major-league roster (in terms of players they would consider dealing).”Kwan is owed $4.175 million this season and has two more years of arbitration, so the price to acquire the outfielder likely wouldn’t be cheap to acquire him for the Blue Jays. But, he would be a good leadoff hitter for Toronto and add to their already stellar team defense.Kwan is hitting .292 with 6 home runs and 29 RBIs with the Guardians. The left fielder is a three-time Gold Glove Award winner and is a two-time MLB All-Star.More MLB: Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s $500 million contract gets key value update for 1st-place Toronto
