KEY HIGHLIGHTSDue to critical funding shortfalls, WFP has been forced to reduce cash transfers by 20 percent and cut protein content in food boxes by 50 percent to maintain its support for vulnerable populations.Aerial assaults on Ukraine continue to escalate, with a record number of drones launched and an increase in civilian casualties.WFP Executive Director, Cindy McCain, visited Ukraine between 17 and 20 June.SITUATION UPDATEAerial strikes on Ukraine continued to dramatically escalate, with a record 5,337 Shahed drones launched in June – 25 percent more than the previous March record. Single-day attacks reached unprecedented levels, with the largest strike on June 29 deploying 477 drones. Combined with missile strikes, these intensified attacks caused substantial civilian casualties: at least 85 deaths and 680 injuries across six major June attacks alone. Escalating attacks have caused territorial losses affecting WFP's cash and food assistance programmes across 142 settlements, while security incidents targeting WFP and partners have surged to 15 in the first half of 2025—already exceeding all of 2023 and representing over half of 2024's total incidents.
