Chelsea have announced that the club’s former record goalscorer, Bobby Tambling, has died at the age of 84.Tambling scored a club record 202 goals in 370 games for the West Londoners between 1959 and 1970, a landmark which stood 43 years until Frank Lampard eclipsed his goal return in 2013.He spent more than a decade in the Chelsea first team after making his debut as a teenager and was part of the side that won the 1965 League Cup, scoring the opener in the 3-2 final win over Leicester City at Wembley.Tambling later had spells with Crystal Palace and a host of clubs in the Republic of Ireland, including Cork Celtic, Waterford, Shamrock Rovers, and Cork Alberts. He earned three caps for England, scoring once.
