severe period pain but a normal mri and ultrasound

Wait 5 sec.

hi, so i don’t really know how to word this properly but i just need to see if anyone else has been through similar or can give me some advice as an 18 year old with suspected endometriosis. i’ve been dealing with really bad period pain for a while now. some months i’m okay-ish and can function, and then other months it gets so bad i’ve ended up in A&E once and there’s been other times i probably should’ve gone but didn’t. just to add, when i was like 11–15 it was pretty manageable tbh, it was uncomfortable but nothing crazy. it’s mainly from around 16 onwards that it’s gotten significantly worse and started affecting my ability to function properly it’s mainly really bad lower abdomen / pelvic pain, and sometimes it also shows up outside my period too which confuses me a bit when it’s bad: • i can’t really get out of bed • bowel symptoms show up too • pain can go from like a 5 to a 10 depending on the month • it fully affects my day to day life i’ve tried a lot of meds at this point (ibuprofen, naproxen, mefenamic acid, diclofenac, Buscopan, co-codamol, tranexamic acid etc) and sometimes they help a bit but often it just doesn’t last or doesn’t really touch it i’ve had: • ultrasound → normal • MRI → no deep endometriosis seen i’m already referred to gynaecology and waiting for my follow-up, but i feel a bit stuck because everything keeps coming back “normal” but my body definitely doesn’t feel normal 😭. i’ve read that things like endometriosis can still be missed on scans, especially surface level stuff, but i just wanted to ask: has anyone else had this? like normal scans but still really severe symptoms? did you eventually get answers, or find anything that actually helped? submitted by /u/miiixxso [link] [comments]
