Symptoms period length 4-5 days cycle length 26-32 days painful cramps requiring pain meds only last for a day or 2 Never vomited or passed out from the pain period pain makes me light headed and dopey less intense abdominal pain other parts of cycle Diagnosis journey thus far GP prescribed anti-inflammatories referral for ultrasound (came back normal) prescribed codeine for rare occasions anti-inflammatories are insufficient referral for gyno Gyno referral for a pelvic ultrasound (came back normal) Pelvic ultrasound clinic ultrasound fucking hurt, especially when they pushed on my ovaries despite the excellent bedside manner of the radiographer I found that experience traumatising gyno follow up recommended anti-inflammatory diet, turmeric, fish oil tablets suggested I go on the pill Said she would operate if I wanted to As I don’t want to do options 2 or 3 (reasons below) she recommended I go back to the pelvic ultrasound clinic in a year to see if anything has changed current treatment path I don’t want to go through the exhaustion of surgery and recovery because: they may not find endo if they do, it will grow back I’m seeing discussions here about how surgery can be harmful for endo I don’t want to go on the pill. The reasons behind that don’t seem to be something this sub is receptive to, with strong tendencies to promote the pill. What next? I don’t think this gyno specialises in endo. And the Australian govt has increased funding for endo clinics which I think are staffed by GPs, not gynos. So should I bother looking for an endo specialist or are they just going to tell me the same thing? surgery, contraceptive pill, rinse and repeat submitted by /u/Great-Split-930 [link] [comments]
