West Ham United intend to set an asking price of £80million ($108m) for midfielder Mateus Fernandes. The relegated club need to raise £150m this summer and Fernandes is one of their most saleable assets. The Portugal international joined for £38m last summer from Southampton, who negotiated a 15 per cent sell-on fee. Manchester United are interested in signing the 21-year-old, having held talks over a potential fee and wages. Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain are also among his suitors. West Ham are yet to receive any approaches for Fernandes. The Athletic reported last month that he does not have a release clause in his contract. Last season, the Portuguese registered five goals and four assists across 40 appearances. submitted by /u/TheAthletic [link] [comments]
