“Year round” is a bit of a misnomer but it’s compared to traditional because they don’t have a true summer break like you’re likely accustomed to. Generally the pattern is something like four weeks on two weeks off (idk the exact pattern, it also varies by district I think) and so you can essentially have multiple “tracks” in one school and thus accommodate more kids overall (ie you have two tracks “on” at a time and then when one goes on break the third comes back so you still have two on). In this sense, they are going to school “year round”. As a kid it sounded like a nightmare because no summer!!! but looking back it would’ve been nice having breaks that often versus one long break in summer and a short winter holiday.
