Halifax Regional Police (HRP), the largest municipal police service in Atlantic Canada, has selected the GLOCK G45 COA as its new duty pistol platform following a competitive evaluation process centered on safety, reliability, and ease of use. The full platform package includes the GLOCK G45 Gen 5 COA pistol fitted with the Aimpoint COA red dot optic via an exclusive A-CUT mounting solution, Streamlight TLR-7 X weapon-mounted lights, Safariland duty holsters, and GLOCK G45T training pistols. The A-CUT interface is a purpose-built, low-profile optic mounting system developed in collaboration between GLOCK and Aimpoint specifically for duty applications, pairing the Gen 5 operating system with an integrated optics solution rather than a traditional aftermarket cut. With the adoption, HRP joins a growing roster of Atlantic Canadian agencies running GLOCK platforms through Rampart, including the Fredericton Police Force Tactical Unit, Summerside Police Service, Kensington Police Service, Kentville Police Service, and Grand Falls Police Force. According to Rampart, GLOCK pistols are currently deployed by more than 90% of Canadian law enforcement agencies at the municipal, provincial, and federal levels."The selection of the GLOCK G45 COA reflects the continued evolution of modern Law Enforcement pistol programs toward integrated optics-ready systems built around reliability and performance," said Mike Klein, President of Rampart. For HRP, the move to an optic-equipped duty platform puts the service in line with a broader shift happening across North American law enforcement, where red dot sights have moved from a tactical niche to a mainstream duty standard. The Breakdown in short:Platform: GLOCK G45 Gen 5 COAOptic: Aimpoint COA with A-CUT mounting solutionWeapon light: Streamlight TLR-7 XHolster: Safariland duty holstersTraining pistol: GLOCK G45TDistributor: RAMPART Corp.
