Govt. challenges eviction of seven families from Malayidamthuruth in HC - The HinduPublished - June 04, 2026 12:14 am IST - KOCHIClose on the heels of the Perumbavoor munsiff court directing the eviction of seven families from a Dalit settlement at Malayidamthuruth, near Kizhakkambalam, in Ernakulam, the State government has moved the Kerala High Court challenging their eviction.The court will hear the government’s plea on Thursday (June 4).The munsiff court passed the eviction order as the two-week deadline set by the High Court to the government to evict the families is approaching.The munsiff court had directed the police to extend all support for the eviction. The KSEB and the Fire and Rescue Services too were told to maintain vigil.The advocate commission appointed to execute the eviction order of the munsiff court had to return without executing the order on 15 occasions.The United Democratic Front government had intervened in the matter a week ago, promising to join the legal dispute and rehabilitate the residents, in case of a setback from the court.The government also assured the residents that there would not be any police action in the name of eviction.The Pariyathukavu land dispute concerns around seven Dalit families who live in 2.5 acres of land, the ownership of which has been claimed by a private individual. The eviction process started after multiple court orders ruled in favour of the private individual’s claim.
