I'm having the coil forced on me – what can I do?

Wait 5 sec.

I went to the doctor's yesterday after fears that my endometriosis might be growing back at a faster rate than expected and the appointment was awful. She talked down to me and said, "We want to stop you bleeding. We've already told you to do the Mirena coil," and then referred me back to the hospital where I had my laparoscopy. For context, I'm on the mini pill and, weirdly, don't mind getting my period. I like tracking my cycle and trying to work with my body for the sake of my energy levels (since I also have Hashimoto's disease), but my backache is getting worse and my last two periods were oddly long. I'm just not sure what to do or what I even expected from the appointment, but I'm not exactly happy! I've had a couple of family members go on the coil and have awful pain (though neither had endo), and I, myself, can't use a tampon or have sex due to excruciating pain. When I told her this, she said I could've had it inserted during the laparoscopy while I was under, but that ship has sailed. I live in the UK and go by the NHS, so it doesn't look like I'll get that opportunity any time soon. Not to mention, I can't imagine that the insertion would be the only pain I would experience. Anywho, I'm sorry for the long post, but I'd appreciate any advice or tales anyone has to share! I just want to be heard, so thank you! submitted by /u/Plus-Ad-8350 [link] [comments]
