If they can post cute selfies on their Facebook they can grasp the concept of money. If they can upfront ask for something for “free” in a message they can grasp the concept of money and this economy. If they are a furry they can grasp the concept of the high expense of fursuits and stuffed animals. I understand that you’re trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, but it’s *extremely* apparent that this person is not that low functioning to the point that they cannot grasp the concept of day to day living. You’re excusing soneone who doesn’t need to be excused and defending someone who’s disability isn’t severe enough to be defended. The considerate part of your comment was sweet, it’s just blatantly incorrect when it comes to this individual. My opinion is even more so apparent when there’s so many comments and not a singular person has said what you’ve said- and as someone who’s understanding and extremely considerate, trust me, if he was that low functioning I’d have not posted this nor addressed his message at all.
