Hi everyone, I was diagnosed with endo back in September 2024. The exploratory lap and subsequent ablation was done by a general gynae, who said I had superficial spots of 'stage 1-2' endometriosis on my left uterosacral ligament. Prior to this I had all the classic endo symptoms with short cycles (around 20-22 days) and long, heavy periods (around 7-10 days) with breakthrough bleeding. Since then, my periods are significantly lighter and shorter (4 days max), and my cycle is around 25 days. Great improvement on the actual bleeding front, but my other symptoms (especially the bowel ones) are still raging. I had an MRI late last year that suggested there is some anatomical distortion in the rear compartment of my pelvis caused by a plaque of deeply infiltrating endometriosis. There is also some suspicion that both my ovaries are closely applied to the pelvic sidewall. I am now on a waiting list for excision surgery with an endo specialist. Has anyone else experienced their actual periods improving, despite the fact their endo appears to be advancing? How can spots of superficial endo in one place be solely responsible for such heavy, frequent bleeding, rather than what is increasingly looking like DIE? I know severity of disease does not necessarily correlate with severity of symptoms. I just wish I could understand this better. I also know it's very much possible that the MRI has overestimated the amount/severity of disease present. That said, my uterus used to be anteverted and is now retroverted, which makes me believe there really is DIE present there, pulling it back. Would love to hear from anyone who has experienced anything similar or has any insights. Thank you and take care 🫶 submitted by /u/Original-Associate-7 [link] [comments]
