Lionel Messi has named several young players he believes could enjoy outstanding careers, and Arsenal prospect Max Dowman is among them. Recognition from one of football’s greatest players will bring further attention to the teenager.Dowman has broken into Arsenal’s first team at just 15, and his performances suggest he is improving with every opportunity. He also made a direct contribution to the Gunners’ title success last season, adding to the excitement surrounding his potential.Mikel Arteta clearly trusts the youngster, although the Arsenal manager is keen to manage his progress carefully. He wants to protect Dowman rather than rush him into the limelight before he is ready.Messi backs Dowman’s potentialDowman has not received as much playing time as he would like, reportedly attracting interest from Celtic and Rangers, who are considering a loan move in January. Arsenal, however, want him to stay with the first team and learn alongside senior players.Messi believes Dowman can reach the highest level. Arteta was asked about the Argentine’s assessment and responded, speaking via Standard Sports:“If Messi, who is the best ever player, says that.“His eyes are I think better than anybody else’s. Hopefully he’s right.”(Photo by Alex Pantling/Getty Images)Arsenal must manage his development carefullyArteta’s response showed respect for Messi’s judgement without making a bold prediction about Dowman’s future. The teenager is still at an early stage of his career, and praise from a player of Messi’s stature will naturally increase expectations.Arsenal will want to ensure that the attention does not become a burden. Keeping Dowman involved with the first team could help him learn, but his minutes and responsibilities will need to reflect his development.Dowman still has a long way to go before fulfilling the promise others see in him. Arsenal will hope to provide the right environment for him to progress and avoid the pitfalls that have affected other highly rated young talents. For now, Messi’s praise adds another notable endorsement to the growing interest in the teenager._____________________________________________________________________________________________ADMIN COMMENTSo here are some simple rules which I must insist commenters follow….You agree not to give any personal abuse to other Arsenal fans.
