Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League performances are trending in the right direction, even though results are yet to follow.Roberto De Zerbi would have undoubtedly been under intense pressure if Dominic Solanke had not popped up with a stoppage-time equaliser at Old Trafford after Tottenham were reduced to 10 men. That goal has led to a completely different outlook on Spurs’ performance against Man United, and restored belief in the fan base that the results will turn around.Tottenham’s biggest issue remains their wastefulness in front of goal, but De Zerbi will be hoping that goals start flowing for Solanke now that he has got underway for the season.Credit: @thefrederikkejensen / InstagramRob Green says Tottenham are dominating increasingly larger sections of matchesSpurs have had spells of complete dominance in all of their matches this season, barring their 3-0 loss to Brentford on the opening day.The Athletic’s resident pundit Rob Green has pointed out that the Lilywhites are progressively dominating longer periods of games, which he sees as a sign that the fitness levels of the squad are improving. The former West Ham goalkeeper said on The Athletic Podcast: “I think that periods where they come out and are bossing games is getting longer and longer.“So the fitness is getting better, or their ability to keep going is getting better. I think De Zerbi will come away from that game encouraged. I think Michael Carrick won’t be.”Spurs have shown their ceiling is very highWhen one considers the performances of both Spurs and Utd this season, there is no doubt that Tottenham have been the much better team so far, even though the Red Devils have more points on the board. In fact, in many metrics, Spurs are performing as well as some of the best teams in the Premier League. While results are all that matter in the business end of the season, one can argue that performances are arguably more important at the start of the campaign.Luck will start evening itself out as the season gathers steam, and Spurs fans can be confident in the belief that their side will not finish anywhere close to the position they currently find themselves in.READ MORE: Tottenham board not concerned about De Zerbi’s commitment to the Spurs projectThe post ‘Longer and longer’ – Rob Green notices encouraging trend in Tottenham games appeared first on Spurs Web.
