CySEC disclosed the penalty two weeks after Titanedge ceased providing investment services and while the regulator was considering the company’s voluntary licence surrender. The Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) published the announcement on 16 October, however, the enforcement action relates to conduct between 2023 and 2024 and was taken before the broker announced its closure. Three Compliance Failures Cost €100,000 CySEC divided the penalty into three parts, according to its decision. €30,000 fine was imposed because Titanedge regularly provided investment advice without holding the necessary authorisation. Although the company was licensed as a Cyprus Investment Firm, investment advice was not among the services covered by that licence. A further €30,000 penalty concerned inadequate internal policies and procedures. CySEC said the company had failed to maintain systems sufficient to ensure ongoing compliance with its regulatory obligations. The remaining €40,000 related to information supplied to existing and potential clients, including marketing communications. According to the regulator, the company did not ensure that all such material was fair, clear and not misleading. CySEC considered the case at meetings in October 2025 and July 2026 before publishing the outcome.Clients Were Told to Close Positions Titanedge announced that it would discontinue its investment and ancillary services on 14 September. Clients were asked to close open positions, request the withdrawal of available funds and complete any outstanding verification requirements. The company warned that positions remaining open on 1 October could be closed at the best available market price. Any positive balance would then be returned to the client’s designated bank account, subject to the applicable requirements. Titanedge also said it intended to renounce its CIF licence, but the surrender is not yet complete: CySEC’s register lists licence 405/21 as under examination for voluntary renunciation. Titanedge Faced an Earlier CySEC Case This is not the broker’s first regulatory penalty. In December 2023, Titanedge reached a €90,000 settlement with CySEC over possible violations involving client communications and general conduct requirements between October 2022 and July 2023. The company paid that amount as part of the settlement. The new fine brings Titanedge’s publicly announced CySEC penalties and settlements to €190,000. Its business is winding down, but the latest decision shows that ending operations does not prevent the regulator from completing enforcement work covering earlier conduct. This article was written by Tanya Chepkova at www.financemagnates.com.
