Arsenal are set to re-take their team photo for the 2026/27 season after William Saliba missed out.The Frenchman was absent from the image, leading to many Arsenal fans demanding the club do it again with their star defender.Saliba was absolutely nowhere to be seen as the Gunners gathered with the Premier League and Community Shield trophiesGettyAnd ahead of facing Nottingham Forest in the Premier League, Mikel Arteta was asked about why Saliba missed the photo at the pre-match press conference.Arsenal explained that Saliba was missing due to a medical appointment. The French international is currently out of action with a back injury.Saliba managed it throughout the majority of last season before it got too much during the World Cup.The 25-year-old had to go off during the semi-final against Spain, indicating his back had given out.The club and player opted not to have surgery with a period of rehabilitation instead, and that is why Saliba missed the photo. And Arteta has confirmed that a new picture will be taken with Saliba front and centre. He said: “What happened was that we have tried to do that picture three times already and we had to cancel it last minute for different reasons.“We had some commercial obligations, we had some people who flew over to do that, so we decided to do that picture.“We will have another picture with the whole family.Saliba has yet to kick a ball for Arsenal this seasonGetty“Hopefully we can get them all together at some point one day, and we’ll announce that as well.”On Saliba’s reaction, he said: “Well, it wasn’t in his hands. But Willy is normally happy about everything. He knows how loved he is. He was taking some banter from the players, and he is completely fine.”Road to recoveryAfter the injury happened, Saliba and Arsenal were left with two choices. One was for the player to have back surgery and be out for well over six months. The other was to rest the back and hope that it didn’t flare up again, with the aim for him to return in three to four months.Saliba played a vital role in Arsenal winning their first Premier League title in 22 yearsGettyArteta revealed that Saliba is set to undergo an MRI to assess how far along he is, with the player back training on grass earlier in the month. He said: “I think next week we have another MRI with him to see how the healing process is going.“But every sign so far has been very, very positive. It will be good to have him.”Other Arsenal injuriesThe Gunners are expecting to have Martin Zubimendi back, with the Spanish international recovering from his minor knock.Piero Hincapie also suffered an injury at the same time as Zubimendi.Arteta’s injury woes are easingGettyBut after initially looking like it was bad, it turned out to be not so much of a problem. He still faces another two weeks on the sidelines, though. But Christos Tzolis is close to a return. The Greek international suffered a hamstring injury while away with his country, but Arteta has revealed he’s recovering well.He said: “It’s progressing really well. “Another one that hopefully we can have back in a few weeks.”
