Daniel Farke believes Michael Carrick has done a “tremendous job” as a coach and player and does not understand the criticism levelled at the Man Utd manager. The German’s Leeds United side renew their rivalry with the Red Devils at Elland Road this Sunday, with just three points separating them in the Premier League table. While Leeds have enjoyed an encouraging start to the campaign, losing just once in the top-flight so far, Man Utd are languishing in 13th with one win from their opening six games. Carrick is already coming under immense for the team’s poor form, having been appointed as permanent manager in May following an impressive spell as caretaker boss last season. Farke feels the criticism aimed at his counterpart has been too harsh and misguided, and suggest that young British coaches should be protected and backed to succeed. Farke backs ‘excellent’ Carrick to succeed at Man Utd“When I think about Michael and young coaches, he’s done excellently,” said Farke at his pre-match press conference on Friday.“He did brilliant at Middlesbrough. After six games, he did not do awfully [at United this season]. They are mid-table or so. Obviously by their perception they want to be going for a title.“You don’t need to go for him as a young coach. What he’s done as a coach and as a player, he’s done a tremendous job.“I don’t think we’re heading in the right direction [criticising Carrick], it won’t help in the right direction. I don’t like it, I don’t understand it.“We need to protect young British coaches, even though I am German I feel half British. I think we should back [them] and be happy at someone with so much potential.”Read – Carrick draws line under Martinez outburst at WilcoxSee Also – Five of the best Premier League away kits in 2026/27Follow the Football Faithful on Social Media:Facebook | Instagram | Twitter | YouTube | TikTokThe post Farke backs ‘excellent’ Carrick to succeed at Man Utd appeared first on The Football Faithful.
