Frank Gashumba’s wife, Malaika Mutoni Gashumba, has defended her husband amid his ongoing dispute with Pastor Robert Kayanja, questioning why innocent children and future generations should be dragged into the controversy.Malaika’s response follows remarks by Jessica Kayanja, the pastor’s wife, who questioned why innocent children and future generations should be involved in the disagreement. In a lengthy statement, Malaika said she felt compelled to speak out after hearing allegations that Pastor Kayanja had directed threats and generational curses at Frank and his descendants. She explained that her husband had initially stopped her from getting involved in the matter, but the mention of innocent children, including those yet to be born, prompted her to break her silence. My husband never mentioned your husband’s name in his initial videos. He spoke about fake pastors and challenged them to demonstrate even one miracle as men of God. She alleged that Pastor Kayanja later responded by making statements about Frank’s death and future, including saying he would become like a chapati within a year, die like former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, and that the soil would reject him, before extending the curses to his four generations.Malaika argued that while she does not support body shaming or comments about another person’s physical appearance, she believes such remarks should not be equated with threats of death and curses directed at innocent children. “I do not defend body shaming or comments about anyone’s physical appearance, but such comments cannot be equated with invoking death and generational curses against innocent children,” she stated. She also questioned why Jessica had focused on comments about physical appearance without first addressing the alleged statements directed at Frank and his family.Malaika called for consistency in how Christians address disagreements, urging both sides to practise the values of love, forgiveness and compassion that underpin their faith.Referring to Jesus Christ’s words during His crucifixion, she noted that He asked God to forgive those who were hurting Him rather than curse them.Frank Gashumba: I have never despised God, I despise those who pretend to be God@Jessicakayanja, if we profess to follow Christ, who are we to curse innocent children who have done absolutely nothing to us?Malaika further defended her own Christian background, revealing that she comes from a committed Anglican family and that her parents are strong believers. She added that despite being married to Frank for only a year, she has never seen a day pass without him praying to God.She also cited James 3:9–10, which cautions against praising God while cursing people created in His likeness, arguing that Christian principles should be applied consistently, regardless of the individuals involved. The dispute has also prompted Malaika to question the silence of people who are quick to condemn remarks about physical appearance but, in her view, are less vocal about statements allegedly directed at children and future generations. She maintained that Jessica has every right to defend her husband’s dignity and family heritage but urged her to extend the same concern to Frank and his descendants. You have rightly raised concerns about the innocence of people being dragged into this matter. I ask that you extend the same consideration to my husband’s children and grandchildren, including those who are not yet born. Malaika concluded by calling for fairness and consistency in the debate, insisting that disagreements between adults should not become a reason to target their innocent family members.“The dignity of one family should never be defended at the expense of another family’s children,” she added. The post Malaika Gashumba defends Frank, questions Kayanja’s generational curses appeared first on MBU.
