Favored at 2-1, by just a bit more than $3,000 over the rail-drawn third-time starter E Z Speaker (Speaker's Corner), NEVADA (c, 2, Uncle Mo–Full Tap, by Tapit) overcame a rough start and was punched out late by Flavien Prat to become a new 'TDN Rising Star' presented by Hagyard Friday afternoon at Belmont Park. The $1-million Fasig-Tipton Saratoga graduate broke a bit inward and exchanged bumps early on with $850,000 OBS April breezer El Mercado (Curlin). Nevada was forced back towards the outside, then was steadied for a stride off heels and ultimately was guided down to the inside while racing last but one and detached from the main body of the field down the backstretch.Patiently ridden by the Frenchman for the run into the final four furlongs, Nevada began to bridge the gap on the turn and continued to pinch ground before Prat made the decisive winning move, angling Nevada out into the clear at the top of the lane. Some six or seven off the inside running rail at that stage, Nevade continued to advance, engaged second-timer D C's Army (Army Mule) with just under a furlong to travel and edged away for tender handling to take it by about 1 1/2 lengths. The final time was 1:36.47.Sales history: $1,000,000 Ylg '25 FTSAUG.
