I've been working as a 3D artist creating VRChat avatars on Fiverr, and there's something I've noticed that genuinely frustrates me. I've had several people, mostly from Nigeria (although sometimes their profiles show other countries), contact me and place orders for custom VRChat avatars. After chatting with them, I often get the feeling that they're not the actual buyers. It seems like they're middlemen who find clients elsewhere and then outsource the work to artists like me for a much lower price. What I don't understand is how these people manage to find clients while I, as someone who actually creates the avatars, struggle to find buyers. I spend hours modeling, texturing, rigging, and making sure everything works properly in VRChat, yet somehow these middlemen seem to be better at getting commissions than the artists doing the actual work. I'm not against people outsourcing work, but it's frustrating knowing that someone might be making more money just by connecting buyers with artists. So my question is: Where are they finding these clients? Discord? Reddit? VRChat communities? Some other platforms I don't know about? I'd love to hear from other VRChat artists who have experienced this. How do you find direct clients without relying entirely on Fiverr? Any genuine advice would be appreciated! submitted by /u/Training_Bike_498 [link] [comments]
