A monthly subscription to remove a PDF password? We built an offline alternative.

Wait 5 sec.

I wanted to remove a password from a PDF I could already open. That was the entire job. When I went looking on the App Store, I kept running into subscriptions. For something my phone can do locally. I really don't want another monthly bill just to save my own file. So we built Unlock PDF. You enter the password you already know, and it saves a new copy without it. The processing happens on your iPhone or iPad using Apple's PDFKit. Your documents aren't uploaded to us. No account, no ads. The first 3 PDFs are free. After that, unlimited PDFs costs $2.99 once in the US (local prices vary). No subscription. It also fills and signs forms, merges PDFs, removes or rotates pages, and makes image-heavy PDFs smaller. The original file stays unchanged. To be clear: you need the current password if the PDF asks for one. This doesn't crack or recover unknown passwords. Offline processing works with files already downloaded to your device; buying or restoring Pro needs internet. The gap we wanted to fill was pretty simple: a useful little utility you can try, buy once, and stop thinking about the bill. Which everyday phone utility do you wish you could just buy once and be done with? submitted by /u/Ijjimem [link] [comments]
