Tottenham vs Coventry City Premier League preview, team news, predicted XI

Wait 5 sec.

Roberto De Zerbi’s men will hope to end their winless Premier League run when they host newly promoted Coventry City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Monday.A first Premier League win has been knocking on the door for Tottenham Hotspur for some time now, but their poor finishing means nobody has managed to open it just yet. That was the case again last weekend, when a 10-man Spurs side snatched a stoppage-time equaliser against Manchester United in a dramatic 1-1 draw. In reality, though, Tottenham should have been in a comfortable position long before that, having wasted far too many chances in front of goal.Without a doubt, that will have been one of the biggest things De Zerbi’s men worked on during their ‘team-bonding’ trip to Marbella last week. This fixture was widely tipped to be the game that finally ended Tottenham’s winless run, but Coventry took a little offence to that prediction, thrashing Newcastle United 4-1 last Monday. Frank Lampard’s men currently sit 15th in the Premier League table, with double the points of Tottenham, who remain rooted to the bottom.Credit: @thatfootballphotog / InstagramWhat time does Tottenham vs Coventry kick off?Location: London, EnglandStadium: Tottenham Hotspur StadiumDate: Monday, 19 October 2026Kick-off time: 8pm BSTReferee: Andy MadleyVAR: Paul Tierney Monday 19th October Premier League TottenhamTottenham20:00CoventryCoventryTottenham team newsDe Zerbi confirmed two huge blows for Tottenham in his pre-match press conference, revealing that both Savio and Lucas Bergvall have been ruled out of this fixture.Savio picked up a muscular problem on Tuesday and is expected to be out for a few weeks. Bergvall, meanwhile, apparently played the entire United game with pain in his knee before feeling the repercussions during training the following day. The midfielder is now expected to miss the next two weeks.Rodrigo Bentancur is suspended for this fixture, as well as Tottenham’s next two, after headbutting Luke Shaw during on Saturday. There is, however, some fantastic news. After more than a year on the sidelines, Dejan Kulusevski will finally be included in the matchday squad. De Zerbi confirmed the Swede would be on the bench, saying: “Yes [he will be on the bench], the medical staff have given the ok. It’s probably the greatest news since the Everton game (last season). He has suffered too much. I told him yesterday and he had a big smile on his face.”We’ve got even bigger smiles on our faces.Predicted Tottenham line-upKinsky; Gray, Van Hecke, Van de Ven, Udogie; Fernandes, Tonali, Gallagher; Kudus, Solanke, Marmoush.James Maddison could well make his first start for the club in more than 18 months if he is deemed fully fit, although there is little reason to drop Conor Gallagher after his impressive display at Old Trafford. On the left wing, Mathys Tel could also be preferred to Omar Marmoush, depending on who impressed De Zerbi more over the last few days. Our Spurs vs Coventry score predictionFrank Lampard himself has backed Spurs to climb the Premier League table given the quality in their squad, and there is barely any argument against that assessment. Tottenham have the players to be performing far better than their current league position suggests, but they need to start delivering where it matters most.Contrary to the perception of a newly promoted side sitting in a cautious, deep defensive shape, Lampard’s Coventry have been far more expressive and fearless in their approach. Their 4-1 win over Newcastle is probably the best example of what they are capable of.That aggressive approach could also leave Coventry vulnerable at the back, though, and all Tottenham need to do, is take advantage of those moments – which is exactly what’s been their biggest problem this season. That said, Sandro Tonali could be the difference-maker. His vision and awareness to slip teammates into dangerous positions could prove crucial against a Coventry side willing to leave space behind their defence.Predicted score: Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 Coventry CityThe post Tottenham vs Coventry City Premier League preview, team news, predicted XI appeared first on Spurs Web.
