Referee Amy Pu has come under fire for refusing to wave off a fight on the Daniel Dubois vs Fabio Wardley undercard despite the towel being thrown in. The bout in question was a heavyweight clash contested between Irish amateur standout Adam Olaniyan (5-0) and Bradford journeyman Dan Garber (14-10).Pu controversially kicked the towel out of the ring during Olaniyan’s two-round blowout of GarberIt quickly became clear that Garber was way out of his depth, with ‘The Reaper Man’ shipping heavy artillery before being decked by a crisp right hand early in the second round. Garber thumped the canvas in frustration before rising to one knee and meeting Pu’s count at eight.As he did, Garber’s team threw in the towel, which Pu initially missed as her back was to the blue corner. It wasn’t until Olaniyan tapped Pu on the shoulder that she turned and realised.Rather than wave off the bout, the referee kicked the towel out of the ring and signalled for the action to continue. Moments later, Garber was sent tumbling back down to the canvas courtesy of another backhand.Garber’s corner once again threw the towel in, but Pu opted to ignore it for a second time as she finished her count before waving off the bout.
