Rapper Big Tril has revealed why he stopped attending Pastor Robert Kayanja’s Miracle Center Cathedral in 2012, recounting an experience that left him questioning the treatment of churchgoers based on the amount of money they contribute.Big Tril shared his experience during a TikTok Live amid the ongoing debate about “fake pastors” and miracles sparked by social commentator Frank Gashumba. The rapper explained that he began attending church services at Miracle Center Cathedral when he was a teenager but eventually stopped going after an incident involving offertory contributions and special prayers.According to Big Tril, his last visit to the church was in 2012, when a friend who worked there as a drummer invited him to attend a Christmas service. He said he had recently moved within Rubaga and was financially constrained because he had spent most of his money preparing for Christmas. Despite his limited finances, he decided to attend the service with the little money he had left. The last time I went to Miracle Center was 2012. I had shifted from Rubaga near the church to Rubaga, and a friend of mine called me to go there with him for Christmas. But I was broke since I had spent most of the money on Christmas preparations, so I went there with only Shs 2,000.He explained that when the church began collecting offertory, he contributed the Shs 2,000 he had brought with him. However, the situation took a different turn when Pastor Kayanja reportedly called on people carrying white envelopes to come to the front for prayers.Sheilah Gashumba Calls for International Investigation into Ugandan Pastors’ Miracle ClaimsCurious about the envelopes, Big Tril said he asked his friend, who was a drummer at the church, what they represented. His friend allegedly told him that they contained contributions of about Shs 100,000 or Shs 500,000 and above.Big Tril said those carrying the white envelopes went to the front, placed them in a duffel bag and handed the money over before it was taken to the back. He alleged that Pastor Kayanja then remained to pray specifically for the people who had brought the white envelopes. The experience, he said, left him disappointed, as he felt that the amount of money contributed to the church should not determine who receives special prayers.I said to myself, ‘This nonsense, because you don’t get to get a special prayer because you have given more money than me in church.’ I have never gone back to Miracle Center since then. The post Why Big Tril stopped attending Pastor Kayanja’s Miracle Center Cathedral appeared first on MBU.
