Tony Cascarino and Shebahn Aherne believe that football clubs shouldn’t be allowed to sack managers until a certain point in the season. The conversation was sparked because a host of under pressure managers won their respective games.Alvaro Arbeloa lives to fight another day after Fulham’s 1-0 win over Hull CityGettyRussell Martin, Alvaro Arbeloa, Alessio Dionisi and Phil Parkinson all won despite building pressure.Across the top five divisions in England, we have already seen five sacked. The first gaffer to go was Michael Duff at Wycombe Wanderers before Paul Heckingbottom at Preston North End soon followed.Of course, their dismissals weren’t based purely on this campaign and were a hangover from the previous one.Lee Cattermole at Gateshead in the National League was one of the managers appointed in the summer and already sacked. So, with that in mind, Aherne and Cascarino discussed the problem on Weekend Sports Breakfast.Former Millwall and Chelsea striker Cascarino said: “I’ve always argued the point that there should be a window for managers, they should all be able to survive until a certain period.“So, even if you appoint a manager in June, they get until the next window without anyone being allowed to sack them.“Some people won’t like it because they’ll say, ‘well, look, he’ll take us down’. Well, that’s your fault for making the decision on who to employ.”Aherne then added: “Mangers get a juicy pay-off, and they will probably get another job, but you wonder if they are protected enough contractually.“I do wonder if you could put in a clause that there are a minimum number of games or to get to January.“It offer them a bit more protection, and it takes out the conversation of pressure.”Parkinson is another manager is under a lot of pressureGettyCascarino responded: “It would be fair. You have got to give people backing.“If you are going to employ them, you have got to give them the opportunity.“There are very few fixed contracts, as in where a manager gets a whole term, so you have to to give them time.“If you had a date across the board of say January 1, then that’s fair.”Aherne used Fulham as an example.“Now Fulham have won, they can turn it around, but if they’d not won yesterday would it be a case of, you’re done now.“It’s so quick. It is definitely too quick.”It ended in tears for Cattermole at GatesheadGettyResults determine futuresAll clubs appoint managers to get the best results, whether that be to survive, compete for higher spots or titles. And as much as some fans will be more patient than others, it is a results game. But managers can turn it around.talkSPORT reported earlier in the week that Arbeloa was under intense pressure to win. They did just that with a much-needed 1-0 victory over Hull City.We also reported that Steven Gerrard would be interested in taking the Wrexham job after one win in ten for Parkinson before smashing Preston 4-1.And Martin is not the most popular person at the King Power Stadium at the moment, but Leicester City beat Doncaster Rovers 2-1.
