Doubao Say now supports macOS. I originally built this open-source dictation tool for Linux. It now has a native Swift menu bar app for Mac, with signed and Apple-notarized DMGs for both Apple Silicon and Intel. Place the cursor in a text field, hold a shortcut, speak, and release to enter the result. Tap-to-start / tap-to-finish is available too. The part I wanted to keep flexible is what happens around transcription. You can choose recognition and polishing separately: sign in with a Doubao account or use your own Volcengine ASR API, then optionally polish the transcript through an OpenAI-compatible endpoint or a connected ChatGPT plan. Personal vocabulary and explicitly confirmed corrections provide context for polishing. Completed input history stays on the device for 30 days and can be paused or cleared. Settings save automatically, and microphones can be switched from the menu bar. Requires macOS 13 or later. The project is MIT licensed; feedback and contributions are welcome. This is an independent third-party project, not an official Doubao product. Recognition uses online services. When enabled, polishing sends text to your selected provider; provider usage limits and fees apply.
