Hey r/SideProject 👋 A few days ago I watched an Instagram reel about **Tangerine**, a Mac app where you drag a file, tap a key, and drop it on a little menu to convert it. The idea is really neat. But what caught my eye was the comments: people loved it and kept asking the same question over and over, *"Is this on Windows?"*, *"Linux version when?"* There wasn't one. So I built it over the weekend with Claude Code as my coding assistant. It's called **Metamorphosis** (`morph`). It'fully offline on **Windows and Linux**. **How it works:** start dragging any file, tptions opens right under your cursor. Dropthe file on "PNG", "Compress", "Crop" or "Blur faces", and the result is saved next to the original. - **Ctrl** opens Tools (compress, crop, annotate, add a background, trim video…) - **Alt** opens Actions (copy, move, share, iles on a shelf) - The ring only shows what makes sense for that file type What's in it: - **87 operations** across images, PDFs, video/audio (FFmpeg), documents and archives. - **Your original is never touched.** Every - **Fully offline.** No account, no upload, no tracking. - **Local AI tools** (blur faces, OCR, removr machine. The models are optional downloads. - **A matching CLI** for when you want to script it. - **Works on Wayland** too, through a small ks global key hooks. **How the weekend went:** Built it slice by slice with Claude Code: Rust + Tauri 2, with a vanilla JS/SVG ring. I made the product and design calls; Claude wrote most of the code under my direction. The releases, with CI and tests on both Windows and Linux. Clean CI machines caught bugs I'd never have seen on my own PC. 🔗 Website (with a live, clickable ring demo): https://medbm5.github.io/morph/ 💻 Code + downloads: https://github.com/medb submitted by /u/Jojolion555 [link] [comments]
