Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs cannot stop winning. The AFC West outfit have come out of their early NFL season Bye Week and have picked up right where they left off, recording a 22-6 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers to remain undefeated (5-0) on the season. Mahomes has not played like a QB who is less than a year removed from a devastating LCL and ACL injuryGettyIn doing so, Mahomes made some history by tying Tom Brady – arguably the greatest quarterback of all time – for the fastest QB to 100 career wins, doing so in his 131st start under center. After the win, which now has the Chiefs just one win shy of tying their total win record from 2025 (6-11), the 31-year-old sent a warning in Brady’s direction that he isn’t done yet. “It’s awesome because he’s [Brady] the GOAT man,” he said postgame. “He’s the one that’s shown us how to do it by winning the Super Bowls and winning every single week. “So it’s always an honor if you mention his name, but it seems like every time I win a game, I’m tying him [Brady], so I’m gonna keep winning.”Despite returning to the field 10 months removed from suffering a torn ACL and LCL injury in Week 15 of the 2025 season, Mahomes’ individual numbers resemble a near 100-percent healthy version of himself. Through the first five games on the season, the three-time Super Bowl champion has completed 66.5 percent of his passes for 1,309 yards and nine touchdowns to just three interceptions. His 8.3 average yards per pass is his highest mark since the 2022 season, when the Chiefs went on to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII. Brady is a huge fan of MahomesBrady, meanwhile, has never shied away from dishing out praise to Mahomes, who talkSPORT ranks as the second-best signal caller in the league this season. “Pat’s the best quarterback in the NFL, he’s unbelievable,” Brady said back in February of last year. “It doesn’t take away from his greatness at all. He’s just playing within the rules and how they’re calling them.”The $375 million FOX lead color commentator also issued some words of advice to Mahomes following his season-ending injury last season. Mahomes and Brady now share the record for the fastest QB to 100 career wins in NFL historygettyBrady has never shied away from revealing how much he loves what he sees from Mahomes on the field, and serves as a mentor to the Chiefs QBGetty“The only thing you can do is focus on what’s ahead of you and not look back,” Brady said last December. “And just say, OK, this is part of what my career is going to be. And a lot of people have gone through it and a lot of people have overcome it. “You’ve just got to put as much diligence into the rehab process. And I always feel like the faster you rehab, the faster you can get back to practicing the sport that you know you love. I think sometimes people will pace themselves. Instead of training mode, they’re in rehab mode. I think you gotta get through rehab mode as fast as possible and then you get back to training mode. “But that requires an all-out commitment and it’s the same commitment that the great professional athletes make to be great at their profession. “When you go through the rehab process, you need that same level of focus and determination.”It seems that Mahomes took this personally, and at this point, is currently well on the path to leading the Chiefs back to the NFL playoffs, but there is still a long way to go yet before this is confirmed.
