Ruminating over schedules and need some human insight

Wait 5 sec.

I’m a mom of 2. Ages 1 and 4. and have worked at a hospital with a 45 min commute for 6 years, the past 3 years since I became a mom, I’ve just been working PRN 1 day a week. The drive has been manageable working PRN, but I’m planning my return to full time work. I feel stuck because the hours I have currently are 6am-230pm and as soon as a FT day shift opens up at my current workplace it’s mine since they go off of seniority. Would you… Continue driving the 45 min commute for the forseeable future because of having an “ideal” schedule for kids Or Take an off shift at a closer hospital just to shorten the commute to 17 min, not knowing when there’s an end in sight (aka day shift opening up) Can anyone tell me if working an evening or night shift becomes easier when your kids get older? Maybe I could power through the long commute until they’re a little older. Or does it just get worse because of older kids activities? Thanks. submitted by /u/salmonyellow [link] [comments]
