Hey everyone! For a while, I was managing my personal finances through an Excel spreadsheet I had built myself. One thing I kept coming back to was how much easier it felt to budget between paychecks rather than by calendar month. Most budgeting apps seem to focus heavily on monthly budgets, but that's not always how money actually moves. You get paid on a certain date, you have bills coming up before your next paycheck, you want to save some money, and you need to know exactly what's left to spend. So I decided to turn my Excel budgeting system into a mobile app. That's how BetweenPay started. I've been building it with Flutter for iOS and Android, and it's now in beta testing on iOS. The main features include: Budgeting around your actual pay schedule. Viewing upcoming expenses within each pay period. Tracking fixed expenses, variable spending, and savings. Projecting how much money you'll have available. Comparing planned budgets with actual spending. Getting personalized financial suggestions. I'm also working on a transaction import system that would let users scan receipts or upload bank statements and screenshots, without needing to connect their bank accounts. It's been a really interesting project, especially figuring out how to make budgeting flexible enough for different pay schedules. Now I'm at the point where I'd love to get some outside perspectives. A few questions: Does paycheck-based budgeting sound useful, or is monthly budgeting good enough? What's one feature you wish your current budgeting app had? Would you trust a budgeting app that doesn't connect to your bank? What would make you actually try an app like this? I'm not looking for compliments. I'd genuinely appreciate feedback, criticism, and ideas on what to improve before launch. Thanks for reading! submitted by /u/Mezanmi [link] [comments]
