If Arsenal Were Man City, How Would You React, Gooners?

Wait 5 sec.

Whether they believe their club will prove their innocence on appeal or hope that highly paid lawyers can drag their case on until they find a loophole, a section of Man City’s fanbase have been judged by how they have reacted to being found guilty of the 114 charges. The inflatable bananas brought to grounds by supporters are a sign of defiance, a willingness to laugh their way through adversity and a reference to their history in the lower divisions. The question Sky Blues followers have been asking is how would their peers react if they were in the same situation?Would Arsenal fans react any differently? We all know a person who refuses to ever be critical of the team they love, an individual who never predicts a defeat, whose definition of a supporter is to be positive no matter what.I know Gooners who would defend Arsenal if they woke up tomorrow with news the Gunners had breached financial rules. They too would ask for the whole process to be respected. There is zero right or wrong, and this comes down to one’s own moral compass. So I can only speak for myself.I would want to believe my owners that irrefutable evidence exists, and until a legal team ran out of avenues, I would cling on to hope. If legislation could be found that could reduce any sanctions, that’s what I would wish for.I don’t know if I could be defiant because I wouldn’t be able to ignore the facts. I would struggle to convince myself that something is true when the reality is so worrying.I couldn’t put on a mask in public. In the back of my mind, I would be thinking that it’s a lot of charges to have got wrong, that witnesses are not presented as dishonest for no reason and that contracts wouldn’t have been described as a sham for nothing.I can’t ignore the reality.(Photo by Michael Regan/Getty Images)Some things are bigger than what happens on the pitchIf the Kroenke family broke rules to win trophies, I would be angry. If they carried on lying to me, I would be fuming.I felt that way regarding the Super League and would have felt any punishment would have been deserved because some things are bigger than what happens on the pitch.Because owners come and go, it’s not for them to tarnish the proud reputation of a badge, to undermine an institution’s history or gamble with its future.A billionaire family’s worst-case scenario is that they sell their business and make a profit. Fans are the ones who would have to follow the club every week in the lower leagues.I would want my owners out but hope lawyers find a way out of their mess. Both can be true.No right or wrong, how would you feel if what happened at the Etihad occurred at the Emirates?Dan Smith_____________________________________________________________________________________________ADMIN COMMENTSo here are some simple rules which I must insist commenters follow….You agree not to give any personal abuse to other Arsenal fans.
