I love being out on the bike, on the trail and on long runs, but I didn't want to pay a monthly fee just to plan a good route. So I built my own route planner as a side project, and made it free for everyone. What it does One pin, six sports. Road, gravel, mountain bike, run, trail run, and walk and hike. Each sport reads the map its own way, so the same pin gives a different loop: quiet lanes for the road, dirt first for gravel, the climb left on for trail runs. No loop doubles back on itself. Know the ride before you go. Every route shows the climb, the surface split (paved, gravel, dirt), the turns, and water, toilets and cafés along the way. Leave the phone at home. Send it to your Garmin, COROS, Suunto, Wahoo or Hammerhead. On a Garmin it warns you before each turn and each stop. Swim, ride, run in one plan. Bricks, triathlons, duathlons and aquabikes, with race distances from a super sprint to a full Ironman filled in for you. Or just ask for it. Connect it to Claude or ChatGPT and ask for "a 40 km gravel loop from Westerlo". The route comes from the map, never from the AI, and lands in your library ready for your watch. How it's built Solo, in my spare time: Laravel with React for the planner, Astro for the site, and Valhalla routing on OpenStreetMap data. I build with AI assistance, but it isn't vibecoded. I'm a senior software engineer with 10 years of experience, and I review every change and keep it to strict standards: PHPStan at max level, architecture rules that fail the build, and tests on every pull request. It's free for good: no ads, no tracking, no paid tier, and no feed or leaderboard. Donations cover the hosting if people want to chip in. The launch video is attached. I'd love to know what you think, and what would make you switch from the planner you use now.
