I'm the developer of CostMe, a manual expense tracker for iOS and Android. One use case I'm exploring is the gap between making a purchase and getting around to entering it in a spreadsheet. Spreadsheets are flexible. Remembering every small purchase at the end of the day is a separate problem, especially with cash. In CostMe, you can create a tracker for something specific, like parking, or group purchases under something broader, like a monthly personal budget. You add the amount when you spend it, with an optional note. Quick Add handles purchases that usually have the same price. Later, you can export the records as CSV and open them in Excel. It's a manual export, so you keep control of when you review the data. The spending records are stored on the device, and you don't need to connect a bank account. I like the possibility of using the phone for capture and a spreadsheet for the analysis someone already enjoys doing, rather than asking them to change their whole workflow. If you track expenses in a spreadsheet, is entering the purchases the annoying part, or is it organizing them afterward? I'd like to understand which part needs to be easier. https://costme.app/ submitted by /u/AjoKano [link] [comments]
