From character portrait to printable paper standee in a few clicks: free tool, runs locally with ComfyUI

Like many of you, I have a nice illustration for every PC and NPC in my DnD campaign, but nothing to put on the battle map. So I built paper-minis: it turns a character illustration into a fold-over paper miniature, ready to print (using only LOCAL AI. No credit, no fee, nothing) How it works Upload one or more character illustrations. Any style works, even cropped at the waist. Optionally add a short description per character, e.g. “a tiefling rogue holding 2 daggers, purple skin, golden eyes”. The AI redraws each character full-body in a bold comic style that reads well from across the table, on a white background. The tool adds the black border, the base and the mirrored back side, then lays everything out on print sheets. What you get A PDF that prints at true size: heroes are 40 mm from feet to top of head, adjustable. For laser cutter owners, an SVG with the cut and fold lines, plus a registration frame to line the laser up with the print. Then just cut, fold in the middle of the base, glue back to back, and put it on a stand. The images show my players’ original art on the left and the resulting minis on the right. https://preview.redd.it/46l7bvan5gwh1.png?width=1021&format=png&auto=webp&s=509f73e3c5755513e9bf4af312c7f1c39f4d955f https://preview.redd.it/7lv4tisn5gwh1.png?width=1200&format=png&auto=webp&s=26cd13401c7d638eec1f8ef3571e268a39bcd9e1 https://preview.redd.it/jbc7uyvo5gwh1.png?width=1280&format=png&auto=webp&s=0ed4b56bbfd57877398a4d0a9d74b38ea52332a6 What you need : A PC with a decent GPU: about 24 GB of VRAM is comfortable; 12–16 GB works, but slower. ComfyUI (free) and Docker (free). The FLUX.2 [klein] 9B model, free for non-commercial use. You need a Hugging Face account to accept its license. The web page walks you through everything step by step, in English or French: installing and connecting ComfyUI, getting the models, then generating, printing and cutting. It all runs on your own machine; nothing is uploaded anywhere. Repo: https://github.com/KyneSilverhide/paper-minis It’s a personal project, free and open source (MIT). Feedback welcome, and I’d love to see your minis on the table! submitted by /u/KyneTallarn to r/printandplay [link] [comments]
