Tottenham’s search for a new number nine could take them to Germany in January, as the Lilywhites continue to look for a solution to their woes upfront.Despite his struggles for fitness and form, Roberto De Zerbi has backed Dominic Solanke to the hilt, with the Tottenham boss also giving the 29-year-old the armband against Man Utd.De Zerbi described Solanke as a ‘complete player’ after his equaliser at Man Utd, and insisted that the England international’s qualities make him an ideal option to lead the line for his side. While the Italian will be hoping the floodgates open for the former Bournemouth man in front of goal after netting his first league goal of the season, there is no doubt that Spurs would want to add another number nine to their squad in January.Photo by Pau Barrena / AFP via Getty ImagesTottenham are keen on landing Bayer Leverkusen striker Christian KofaneAccording to Football Insider, Bayer Leverkusen striker Christian Kofane has caught the eye of several Premier League clubs ahead of the winter. The 20-year-old has scored 10 goals and provided 9 assists in 50 appearances since joining Leverkusen in the summer of 2025, and he has three in six so far this season. It is revealed that both Tottenham and Aston Villa are keen on landing the Cameroon international, while Newcastle and Chelsea have also followed the player’s progress closely. However, the most concrete interest in Kofane comes from Everton, who attempted to take him to the Hill Dickinson Stadium in the summer window. With Thierno Barry currently the only senior striker at David Moyes’ disposal, the club are keen to add a centre-forward to their squad, with the Leverkusen man continuing to be at the top of their wishlist.January move deemed unlikely for Spurs target KofaneFootball Insider suggest that the 20-year-old striker has his eye on moving to the Premier League, being aware that several English sides are interested in his services. However, the website also spoke to transfer market expert Pete O’Rourke, who revealed that Leverkusen will not want to lose the Cameroonian mid-season, and suggested that a transfer is more likely for the player next summer.O’Rourke said: “Everton looked at Kofane and showed interest in trying to sign him, but Bayer Leverkusen didn’t really want to lose him. I’m sure the German club would like to keep hold of him as well and probably wouldn’t want to lose him in the winter transfer window either.“But I think there’s potential options maybe for next summer for that interest to be reignited in Christian Kofane, because he is very highly regarded by these clubs. He’s a big, tall striker but also very mobile, he can play out wide or down the middle, so I think that’s why he ticks a lot of boxes for Premier League clubs.”READ MORE: Tottenham could face Thomas Frank twice in a month after latest transfer updateThe post Tottenham battle Aston Villa for 20-year-old Bundesliga striker with three goals in six games appeared first on Spurs Web.
