Tessera: a free browser tool that turns a wall size and a relief into printable, interlocking 3D tiles

Wait 5 sec.

Hi all, I built a free web tool for designing 3D-printed relief tiles to cover a wall, a cabinet or any flat surface, and I've just finished the first real test with it: four tiles on my TV stand (photos above). The tool is called Tessera: https://tessera.3dprinttoolkit.com/?ref=r3dprintingtools How it works You enter the size of the surface and the tile size, then pick a relief (there are 24) and a color It works out how many full tiles fit and makes the cut pieces for the edges. The pattern carries on across every joint, so a cut piece is a real slice of a full tile, not a stretched copy It checks every tile fits your printer's bed You get a 3D preview of the whole surface and of a single tile You download STL or STEP files in a zip with a layout plan and print notes. There's also a two-color 3MF: everything above a line through the relief prints in a second filament. That's one filament change per plate, so it works on a single-nozzle printer too Optional extras: an edge profile around the whole surface, keys or tabs that lock tiles together, or printed wall clips Sample plates: 45 mm squares of every relief on one plate, so you can feel them in your hand before you commit to a wall The test build Surface: 50 x 35 cm, covered by 4 tiles of 250 x 175 mm Relief: Wavy, in red PLA Printer: Bambu Lab P2S, about 3h30 per tile Printed keys lock the tiles together from the back, and the panel is held on with double-sided tape Privacy It's free, with no account, no ads and nothing to sell. Everything runs in your browser, so your design never leaves your computer and there's nothing to install. The only thing the site sends is an anonymous, cookie-free usage count. What I'd love feedback on If you've never seen it before, is the studio easy to follow? Which relief would you like that isn't there? I used the keys on this build and tried the wall clips in a separate test, but the tabs (the third way to lock tiles) haven't been on a real print yet. If you print the fit test, I'd love to know which of the three fits worked on your machine Does any file misbehave in your slicer (Bambu Studio, Orca, Prusa)? Harsh feedback is welcome too.
