Ahmedabad is set to get a Rs 307 crore Vande Bharat train maintenance hub at Sabarmati, enabling major repairs and scheduled overhauls to be carried out locally. Being developed under Phase II of the Sabarmati Integrated Coaching Depot, the facility will handle heavy repairs, wheel and axle maintenance, and electrical equipment overhauls. It is designed to service 24-coach trainsets, with an annual capacity of 12 trainsets for SS-I maintenance or eight for SS-II maintenance.
