Half your 50K drawdown, gone while you sleep (MNQ, Oct 14)Micro E-mini Nasdaq-100 Index FuturesCME_MINI:MNQ1!WolfGangBossOct 14, 4 PM ET close: 30,186. Oct 15, 9 AM ET: 29,790. One MNQ micro held overnight lost $792 before most traders were awake, and $966 at the overnight low. On a 50K evaluation with a $2,000 max drawdown, that is almost half the account's room, on a single micro, while you sleep. It was not a one-off. Over the last 12 overnight holds (Sep 29 to Oct 16), measured from the 4 PM close to 9 AM the next morning: - MNQ moved an average of 197 points ($394 per micro) by 9 AM - 6 of 12 nights moved 200+ points - The average worst swing during the night was 286 points ($573 per micro) On one contract that is painful. On 5 micros, the Oct 14 night alone is about $4,800, more than twice a 50K account's drawdown. Two numbers worth knowing before any trade on a funded account: what your stop costs per contract, and how long until your firm flattens you. I published a free open-source indicator that shows both on any chart (the panel at the top right of this chart): Prop Firm Guard, in my scripts. Enter your firm's daily limit, drawdown room and flatten time, and it tells you max contracts for your stop and counts down to the flatten. What is your firm's flatten time? I will add presets for the most common ones. Educational only. Not financial advice.
