Nineteen-year-old Almorie Sophia Naggayi from Masaka was on Saturday crowned Miss Uganda 2026/27 in a colourful finale at Sheraton Kampala hotel. Naggayi enjoyed strong support from the audience throughout the evening, and won over many fans with the way she carried herself and handled the question and answer session. The new beauty queen hopes to use the platform to promote financial literacy and practical skills development among young people, with a focus on empowering women. Bridget Prudence Nakato emerged First Runner-Up, also earning the titles of Class President and Top Model. Rukia Balunywa was named Second Runner-Up and Miss Congeniality. Naggayi also won Miss Photogenic. Hosts Kenneth Rukundo and Anita Fabiola kept the audience engaged, while performances from Karole Kasita, Abeeka Band and Grace Nakimera added to the excitement. The occasion also celebrated 15 years of the Miss Uganda Foundation under Brenda Nanyonjo. Nanyonjo praised the contestants for their growth throughout the competition. “What a night! This year’s journey has been truly special. We marked 15 years, and I have seen the Class of 2026/2027 blossom and become the divas they truly are. Only one was crowned, but they are all queens in their capacities,” she said, thanking her sponsors and partners, including StarTimes and V&A Sherry. Naggayi’s victory came with a new Toyota Wish. She will also carry Uganda’s flag at the Miss World pageant in Tanzania. atiluknathan@gmail.comThe post Almorie Sophia Naggayi is Miss Uganda appeared first on The Observer Media Ltd.
