Hey everyone, I come from a Lenormand background, where the cut is almost always treated as an X-ray of the present moment — basically a snapshot of the current situation or where the querent stands right now before getting into the main spread. I was reading Mia Cuagliano’s book and saw her note on it: "The reader observes the two top cards from each pile (one from each half). The deck is then reassembled in reverse order: the bottom half is placed on top." This brought up a specific doubt for me: If the question itself is about the future (e.g., "What will happen with X next month?"), does il taglio still strictly describe the present moment/status quo at the time of the cut? Or does it already speak to the question itself and preview the future outcome/direction? Also, when looking at those two cards, do you assign specific layers to them? Like the top card representing the surface or conscious level (what's visible or on the querent's mind), and the bottom card acting as the foundation, roots, and unconscious, what's in the "gut" or heart of the situation, like repressed desires, secret motives, hidden fears, or underlying forces they might be ignoring or not wanting to admit? Or do you just read them as a straightforward blended pair? Thanks! :D submitted by /u/Luganskw to r/VeraSibillaDivination [link] [comments]
