I made a printable paper mystery where you investigate a vending machine that doesn't exist (free 4-page starter case + 14-page full case)

Hi r/itchio. I make print-and-play "found records" mysteries under the name This Looks Official. Each case is a stack of in-world paperwork: incident reports, evidence tags, interview logs and redacted memos. You solve it at the kitchen table with a pencil. Case 01: The Regret Machine ($9). A night custodian buys a can labeled "What If" from the vending machine in Break Room Two. Facilities would like it noted that there is no vending machine in Break Room Two. There are 14 pages, three staged puzzles and a final clearance code. It takes 60–90 minutes for 1–4 players and comes with a separate host/solution guide with tiered hints, so it works solo. https://thislooksofficial.itch.io/case-01-the-regret-machine Case 0: The Complimentary Pen (free). Four pages and about 15 minutes. A pen went missing from the Front Desk, and every visitor form since then says PLEASE WAIT. It's the best way to see if the format is for you before spending anything. https://thislooksofficial.itch.io/case-0-the-complimentary-pen When you finish, you can enter your code on a companion site (archivefictions.com) to log your clearance. Case 01 also unlocks a bonus page that isn't in the PDF. Up-front disclosure: the puzzles and the writing are designed and playtested by hand, AI tools helped with layout and text editing, and the three "evidence photos" in Case 01 are AI-generated. Both itch pages say so. Feedback is welcome, especially on difficulty. Did the starter case teach the mechanic well enough? submitted by /u/TLOfiles to r/itchio [link] [comments]
