Gary Moore will cease training next week and will hand his training operation over to sons, Josh and Jamie.Moore has trained for over three decades, enjoying big race success both over jumps and on the Flat. Karinga Bay (Ardross) was a multiple Group-race winner on the level in Germany in 1993, while his best horse over obstacles was the hugely popular Sire De Grugy (My Risk), who won the 2014 Queen Mother Champion Chase at the Cheltenham Festival as well as two Tingle Creeks, two Celebration Chases, the Desert Orchid Chase and the Clarence House.Moore has held a joint-licence with his youngest son Josh since 2024. Josh and older brother Jamie, who like his sibling retired from race-riding due to injury, will begin their new partnership with runners at Fontwell and Newmarket next Wednesday.“I just feel I'm getting old, I feel Jamie works so hard with Josh and I think a younger person will hopefully put the job a bit better than what we've been doing just recently,” Moore told Sky Sports Racing after enjoying a double at Brighton on Thursday.“I just felt now was the time for Jamie to add his bit to it, which maybe we need. Jamie always has been a huge part of the yard, as has Josh. They've been there with me all the time. I'm 70 years of age now and it won't make any difference to anybody or anything, I'll still be in the yard, but instead of them working for me I'll be working for them.“I've been training 35 years now, I've enjoyed every minute of it and if it wasn't for the two boys I'd carry on, but you've got to give everybody a chance in this game and it's a young man's game as far as I'm concerned.“I don't like travelling to the races every day of the week, I prefer to be at home, and I just felt now was the time to give the boys a chance.”The post Gary Moore Calls Time On Training Career appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions.
